Report Selector

4 or 5 Drop Down Menus

The Report Selector Bar, at the top of the Reports page, is used to select from four or five criteria that determine the content of the report produced.

In a new installation of ReportCenter only the four drop-downs shown above will appear. If you use the ReportCenter Administrator Console to create an additional set of Reporting Hours a fifth drop-down appears, allowing you to select a set of Reporting Hours to apply to the selected report.

Perform the following steps to run a report.

Network Tree

Select the group, device or component you want to analyze using the Network Tree.

  • Click the Network Tree button.
  • Expand a group in the tree if necessary. Select the group, device, or component from the Network Tree for which you want to view a report. The Network Tree automatically closes once you make a selection, and the name of the element appears in the text box. Or, to close the Network Tree without making a selection, click the Network Tree button  again.

Notes:

  • The groups available in the Network Tree depend on the groups assigned to the current user account by the ReportCenter system administrator.
  • When you select a group name other than Top Groups from the Network Tree, several new report types appear in the Report Type menu.

Find

If you don't know the name or location of the group, device, or component you want to analyze, use the Find tool to locate the element.

  • Click the Find button .
  • Type the group, device, or component in the Type name or address text box, or type the first few letters of the element's name plus an asterisk (*).
  • Select the appropriate check boxes: Find Groups, Find Devices, or Find Components.
  • Click Find or press Enter.

Click on the desired element in the search results, and it is entered into the Network Tree text box. Proceed to the next section.

Component Category

Select the kind of components you want to analyze using the Component Category control.

  • Click the Component Category button.
  • Select the desired component category from the menu. The menu automatically closes once you make a selection, and the name of the category appears in the text box. The ReportCenter Report Server groups components into three categories:
    • PacketShaper (device)
    • Application (traffic class)
    • Host (based on Flow Detail Records)
Or, click the Component Category button  again to close the menu without making a selection.

Notes:

  • The Component Categories displayed depend on the user privileges assigned to the current user account by the ReportCenter system administrator.
  • The Host component category will not appear in the category list unless at least one Flow Collection Agent has been defined.

Report Type

Select the report type you want to run using the Report Type control.

Click the Report Type button.

Select the desired report from the menu. The menu automatically closes once you make a selection, and the name of the report appears in the text box. The reports available depend on the type of component you selected to query.

Or, click the Report Type button  again to close the menu without making a selection.

Note: The Report Types displayed depend on the user privileges assigned to the current user account by the ReportCenter system administrator.

Time Span

Use the calendar to select the date and interval for which you want to analyze data.

Click the Calendar button.

Click the desired interval tab: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Quarterly.

Click the desired date or interval in the Calendar. The calendar automatically closes once you make a selection, and the date and interval appear in the text box.  Or, click the Calendar button again  to close the calendar without making a selection.

Notes:

  • Any date selected on the weekly tab runs the report for the whole week.
  • Use the small white arrows to go to the next or previous month or year.
  • The date and interval selector does not display when it is not appropriate for a particular report.
  • By default a day includes all 24 hours, you can restrict the hours and days of the week using Define -> Reporting Hours in the Administrator Console.

Reporting Hours

If you have created an additional set of Reporting Hours, use the fifth drop-down that appears as a result to select the hours for the report.

Go

Click Go to run the report .
