Top 10 Host Pairs Report

The Top 10 Host Pairs Report presents graphical and tabular displays that reveal which IP hosts have exchanged the greatest amount of data with each other. Based on Flow Details forwarded by your PacketShapers, this information lets you see which host to host connections are using the most bandwidth. The host pairs listed in the first column of the table are links you can use to drill down to a Host Pair Flow Report for that pair.

Table Headings

The following list includes the column headings on the Top 10 Host Pairs Report. The table can be sorted on any column by clicking on the column heading. Links in the Host Pairs column drill down to a Host Pairs Flow Report.

Heading Description
Average Jitter The average variation in speed detected; applies only to certain VOIP connections.
Average One Way Delay The average of all reported values for measured delay times in one direction of data flow
Bytes The total number of bytes used by this host pair during the report period
Destination Host The host receiving packets for a specific traffic flow
Efficiency Level % The percentage of bytes that did not require retransmission
Flows The type of data flow used
Host Pair The IP addresses, and host names if resolved, of two hosts exchanging data
Host Transmit Speed The observed rate at which a host transmits data
Network Delay Average number of milliseconds packets spent in transit
Normalized Network Delay The transaction delay in the network, normalized by transaction size. It shows how long it takes to send 1Kb of data.
Packets The total number of packets exchanged by the host pair in the report period
Packet Loss Percentage The ratio of lost or dropped packets to total packets, expressed as a percentage
PET Client Packet Exchange Time observed for the client
PET Server Packet Exchange Time observed for the server
Ping Exchange Time The round trip time for an ICMP PING protocol packet
Ping Success % The percentage of ICMP PING requests that received a response before the timeout value was reached
Server Delay Average number of milliseconds required for servers to process requests. The time starts when the server has received all required request packets and ends when the server issues the first packet of the response.
Throughput The rate of data exchange for this host pair
Total Delay Average number of milliseconds to complete transactions; includes network delay and server delay
Transaction Count The total number of unique iterations of a transfer of data or control detected during the report period

Note: When you drill down from a Top 10 Host Pairs Report to a derivative report with more specific detail you may see more data than expected. The Top 10 Host Pairs Report is derived from normalized FDR data that has been pushed to the ReportCenter Report Server. In order to give you access to the most recent data possible some derivative reports in the Host category use raw data directly from the Flow Collection Agent. These reports may contain up to one hours worth of data that has not yet been pushed to the Report Server.

Note: You can modify the number of Top Hosts shown in this report by changing the values for name and maxElements in the standard XML file for this report. See Edit XML Directly.
