Custom Reports

ReportCenter lets you design reports using the same building blocks as the ready-made reports that are preconfigured. Reports that you create will be visible in the assigned category drop-down and available for use by all ReportCenter user accounts that have access to that report category (Application, Device or Host).

The names you assign to custom reports appear in alphabetically sorted order in the drop-down for the report category you choose. For example, if you create a custom report based on link-based measurement data and assign the report to the Device category in ReportCenter, then any user with access to any Device reports will have access to your Custom Report as shown with the report named My Device Details below.

More Information

For a procedure you can use to design a Custom Report see Set Up Custom Reports. To see an example of a custom report see Sample Report. For a detailed guide to editing ReportCenter XML files see the PDF document Designing Custom Reports for ReportCenter.

XML Files

When you design a Custom Report an XML file is created by ReportCenter and saved in a special folder. You can directly edit these XML files using any text editor. The files are located in a directory xml\reports\custom under the directory in which ReportCenter is installed. For example, if you have installed ReportCenter in C:\ReportCenter the custom report files will be located in C:\ReportCenter\xml\reports\custom\. There are also some commented sample custom XML files in the path C:\ReportCenter\xml\reports\samples. A ReadMe file in this directory provides an overview. If you do manually edit the files you must later reload the custom report files using the Administrator page in the ReportCenter Report Server web interface. Click Custom Reports and then click the Reload Custom Reports button. To see an XML file used to create a custom report see customreport10001.xml.

Note: To create a Custom Report you must use an account with Administrator rights.
