Software License Key and Feature Key

A full installation of ReportCenter requires a software license. When you purchase ReportCenter an email message is sent to the administrative contact with the license, also called a software key. Depending on the version of ReportCenter you have purchased and the software license currently installed, ReportCenter will support a specific maximum number of PacketShapers.

In addition to the software license key you may also be provided with a feature key, based on the ReportCenter package you have purchased. Use of the Flow Detail Records feature in order to produce Host category reports requires a feature key.

To view or modify your software license key and feature key use the ReportCenter Administrator Console program.

To see the current software license limits drop-down Help and select About.

If you have purchased support for additional PacketShapers and received an email message with your new software key, use this procedure to update your license:

  1. On the Administrator Console main window drop-down the Define menu and select Licenses. The ReportCenter Licenses dialog appears.



  2. In your email program, highlight the new software license key and press Control-C to copy it into your paste buffer.
  3. Click in the License Key field in the ReportCenter License dialog and press Control-V to paste the new license.
  4. If you have also purchased a Feature Key, for example to use Flow Detail data, copy and paste that number into the Feature Key field, if you have not purchased any additional features leave this field blank.
  5. Click OK
  6. Verify the new license and feature information is as expected by using Help > About.

Note: You can install ReportCenter and operate it without a license for up to 30 days. After 30 days you must provide the License Key or the program will cease operating.
