Set an Ignore Policy

Use an ignore policy to treat a traffic type as pass-through traffic so it will not be counted as part of the link traffic under management.

If PacketWise sees traffic that is not destined for the router of the link that the unit is managing, this traffic should be ignored by PacketWise, and should not be counted against the capacity of the link. For example, traffic to and from an Intranet server will never consume router bandwidth, so it should be ignored.

Note: To perform this task from PolicyCenter, you must first select a unit or draft configuration in the Configurations window. Then select the Class Tree tab from the right pane of this window, and proceed to step 2 of the procedure below.

To apply an ignore policy to a traffic class:

1. Click the manage tab.

2. In the left window pane, select the class to which you want to apply an ignore policy.

3. Click policy and select add.

4. Click ignore in the New Policy window.  show screen

5. Click add policy.

Note: In order for policies to take effect, traffic shaping must be enabled. See Enable/Disable Traffic Shaping. You can also use the Application Policy Manager to apply an ignore policy to a traffic class. For details, see Set an Application Policy or Partition.
