Upgrade Using the PacketWise Browser InterfaceTo upgrade the PacketWise software image: 1. Make sure your unit has at least 32 MB of RAM for PacketWise 5.1 and above, or 256 MB of RAM for PacketWise 8.0 and above:
2. Click the setup tab on the navigation bar. 3. From the Choose Setup Page list, select
image. The image configuration settings are displayed on the Setup
screen. 4. In the Image file location field, enter the explicit pathname for the software image file. The image configuration window supplies the default pathname for the latest image that is available on the website: //ftp.packetshaper.com/latest8.zoo Note: You cannot load an image from the unit's hard or flash drive through the browser interface. To load a new image file directly from another FTP server location, enter: [//<hostname>/]<filename>
5. Enter a user name if it is required. If you are downloading the latest image file from ftp.packetshaper.com, do not enter a user name. 6. Enter a password if it is required. If you specified a user name, a password is required. If you are downloading the latest image file from ftp.packetshaper.com do not enter a password. 7. Click load new image in the image configuration window, to install the latest software image. When you load a new image, the current backup image is replaced with the active image and the current active image is replaced with the new image. After the image is loaded, a dialog box prompts you to confirm the reset. Note: If upgrading didn't work (perhaps because the corporate LAN is private or because a security policy or firewall is in place), you can download the software from the Packeteer support website using a computer that is not subject to these restrictions. Service Unknown MessageWhen you load a different version of PacketWise software, you may see Service Unknown configuration error messages. This message appears because a traffic class is associated with a service that is not known to the version of software you are using. For example, if you are using PacketWise and create a class based on RemotelyAnywhere a service new to 7.2 and then revert to PacketWise 7.1, the RemotelyAnywhere class will have a Service Unknown configuration error. You may also see this message if you have removed a plug-in or if the unit is attached to a version of PolicyCenter that doesnt recognize the service. If you get the Service Unknown message for a class, deleting the class or changing the service type will eliminate the error message. See also: |
