Modify Settings

When you initially set up your unit and answered the questions asked in Guided Setup, you specified settings for enabling connectivity and access to your network (such as the unit's IP address, subnet mask, site router address, and link size). You can modify any of these initial settings, via the setup tab in the browser interface.

Note: To perform this task from PolicyCenter, you must first select a unit or draft configuration in the Configurations window. Then select the Setup tab from the right pane of this window, and proceed to step 2 of the procedure below.

To modify settings:

1. Click the setup tab.

The basic settings are automatically displayed in the Setup window.  show screen

2. Use the Choose Setup Page drop-down list to access other setup pages. The following table describes the functions of the available setup pages.

Setup Page Function
basic Set the basic configuration required for deployment on a specific network. See Reconfigure Basic Settings.
adaptive response Packeteer's adaptive response feature monitors unit, application, and network health, providing a color-coded summary that lets you identify potential problems. See Adaptive Response Overview.
command scheduling Schedule commands to be executed at a specific time, on a specific day, on an ongoing basis or only once. See Create a Schedule.
customer portal administration Modify the list of customers who can view customer portal screens. The customer portal feature offers service providers the ability to design custom network and application status pages that can be viewed by their customers. See Customer Portal Overview.

Note:
This feature is not available on the PacketShaper 1200 or 1400 Lite models.
date & time Set date and time; configure time zone and SNTP. See Modify Date and Time Settings.
email Configure an SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server for the schedule, Adaptive Response, and user event features. See Configure an SMTP Server.
failover Configure a failover setting so that if the primary WAN link fails, PacketWise will detect the failover condition and enforce policies to react to a new, smaller link speed. See Define a Failover Configuration.
flow detail records Configure PacketWise to emit flow detail records. See Define Flow Detail Record Collectors.
high availability Configure PacketShapers to detect when interfaces and routers go down and then adjust the rate of the flows and partitions based on the status of the devices. See Configure a High Availability Topology.
HTTPS Change HTTP over SSL settings. See Modify HTTPS Settings.
image Install a new software version or revert to the backup image. See Upgrade the PacketWise Software Image.
management port Enable the Dedicated Management Port feature (certain models only). See Enable the Management Port.
plug-ins Download individual classification or compression algorithm modules (called plug-in files) and install them into an existing software release. See Download Plug-ins.
PolicyCenter access Configure PacketWise for use with Packeteer PolicyCenter, a software program designed to manage and centrally control a network of Packeteer devices. See PolicyCenter Overview .

Note: PolicyCenter is not a component of the PacketWise software and must be purchased separately.
RADIUS Client Enable RADIUS authentication. See Configure RADIUS Authentication Service.
security Set access passwords and secure the interfaces. See Specify Security Settings.
SNMP Configure Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). See Configure PacketWise for SNMP Support.
SSH Change SSH settings. See Modify SSH Settings.
standby Configure Packeteer's redundancy feature. See Configure Direct Standby.

watch mode

Note: The watch mode feature is not available on the PacketShaper 1200 or 1400 Lite models.

wccp settings Configure PacketShaper for WCCP-based redirection. See Configure PacketShaper for WCCP-Based Redirection.
