Plug-In Overview
Plug-ins are downloadable files that extend the functionality of an existing software release. Most plug-ins fall into one of two general categories:
- Classification plug-ins, which can either add the ability to classify new applications, or enhance classification performance for previously-supported applications.
- Feature plug-ins, which add new software features to your unit. Types of feature plug-ins include Xpress (such as an Xpress compression algorithm) and Reporting (such as Real-Time Graphs).
When Packeteer creates a new plug-in, the file will be posted on a Packeteer server for download. You can view and download plug-in files compatible with your software version through the PacketWise browser interface, by using the Packeteer support website, or with the update command in the CLI.
Note: users with a current customer support contract can download and install plug-ins for free. Please contact your reseller to purchase a support contract.
