Enable/Disable CompressionXpress compression shrinks the size of transferred traffic, effectively increasing the amount of bandwidth available on a link. Enhanced and legacy tunnels use different compression systems, so Xpress offers different controls for enabling/disabling compression for each type of tunnel.
Enabling/Disabling Compression on Enhanced TunnelsTo enable/disable compression on enhanced tunnels: 1. Click the xpress tab. The current global settings are displayed next to the global tunnel settings button. 2. Click global tunnel settings. The Edit
Global Tunnel Settings window appears.
3. For Compression, select on to enable or off to disable. 4. Configure your global tunnel options. 5. Click OK. Enabling/Disabling Compression on Legacy TunnelsBecause legacy tunnels use a different compression system, Xpress offers a separate control for enabling compression on legacy tunnels: the Legacy Compression option in the Global Tunnel Settings dialog box. Note that in migration mode, legacy tunnels and enhanced tunnels can have different compression settings (for example, compression can be enabled on legacy tunnels and disabled on enhanced tunnels). To enable/disable compression on legacy tunnels in migration or legacy mode: 1. Before enabling compression, configure settings for legacy compression tunnels. 2. Click the xpress tab. 3. Click global tunnel settings. The Global Tunnel Settings window appears. 4. For Legacy Compression, select on to enable or off to disable. 5. Click OK. The status line under the banner indicates the compression status. Because legacy and enhanced tunnels in migration mode can have different compression settings, the banner indicates the setting for each tunnel type, for example Compression: On(Legacy)/Off(Enhanced).
