Configure Xpress in Enhanced Mode

Xpress works by identifying other PacketShaper units on the network, dynamically setting up a communication link, called a tunnel, between the units, and sending data through the tunnels. Tunnels can transport three types of data: compressed, packed, and accelerated. For details on the Xpress feature, see Xpress Overview.

Note: If you are upgrading to PacketWise v8.x from v7.x, you will need to follow a special procedure for migrating to Xpress.

Before using Xpress, you must configure the PacketShaper by following the steps below:

1. Check your PacketShaper memory to make sure you have enough RAM to run Xpress.

2. Install the Xpress compression and/or acceleration software key. (This step is necessary only if you didn't purchase PacketShaper with preinstalled keys.)

3. Define Xpress-IP addresses for each built-in and LEM device.

4. Configure global Xpress settings for enhanced tunnels.

5. Set the tunnel password.

6. Enable compression, packing, and/or acceleration.
