Distribute Images, Plug-ins, Action Files and Customer Portal Files

PolicyCenter includes a file distribution service that can obtain the latest plug-in and software image files from the Packeteer support website, then schedule a time to copy and install these files to Packeteer units assigned to a PolicyCenter configuration. This service uses HTTP (or optionally HTTPS) to copy files from PolicyCenter to individual units. It replaces the previous PolicyCenter image distribution service, which relied on peer-to-peer FTP copies among units. The new file distribution service supports image, plug-in, and portal files, and can be configured and managed through the PolicyCenter web-browser or command-line interfaces.

PolicyCenter allows you to:

• Prescribe an image for a configuration
  Select an image from the PolicyCenter file library, then create a schedule to distribute the image to all PacketShapers assigned to that configuration. Click here for details.
  
  
• Add or delete a configuration's prescribed plug-in files
  Choose the available plug-in files you wish to assign to a PolicyCenter configuration, then create a schedule to distribute the plug-in files to all PacketShapers assigned to that configuration. Click here for details.
  
  
• Assign a portfolio of customer portal files for a configuration
  Use the file browser feature to create individual portfolios of customer portal files, assign a portfolio to a configuration, then create a schedule to distribute the portal files to all PacketShapers assigned to that configuration. Click here for details.
