Set a Policy for Failover Mode

If you have configured the unit to go into failover mode when it detects a problem with a site router link, you can set rate policies to react to the failover condition. For details on configuring failover support, see Define a Failover Configuration.

Note: To perform this task from PolicyCenter, you must first select a configuration from the Editing Configuration drop-down list at the top of the page.

To specify a specific rate that a policy will use when failover mode is invoked:

1. Open the policy. (See Modify a Policy.)

2. Click failover in the Policy window. The Policy:Failover window opens.  show screen

3. In the Failover Guaranteed field, enter the guaranteed rate that the policy should use when the unit goes into failover mode. Rates may be specified as integer bits per second, followed by a “k” (thousands), “M” (millions), or “G” (billions). The guaranteed rate must be a minimum of 256 bps (1024 bps on PacketShaper 7500, 9500, and 10000 models).

4. Click OK.
