ATM Tips

Ideally, your network configuration satisfies all the prerequisites listed in the prerequisite checklist, and the default ATM configuration that PacketWise automatically constructs for you is adequate. However, should this not be the case, there are a few adjustments you can make.

Disable Auto-Routing

1. If your router relies on static routes and you cannot switch to dynamic routing, use the atm options routing command to disable auto-routing.
2. Modify the matching rules of each of the VC classes so that they contain subnets and/or host addresses that allow PacketWise to match flows with their corresponding VCs. See Matching Rules for details.

Rename PVC Classes

To make the class tree easier to understand, you may want to rename the VC classes that were created by PacketWise. For example, instead of PVC_1_602, you could rename the class to London.

To rename a class:

1. Click the manage tab in the browser interface.
2. In the left window pane, select the class you want to rename.
3. In the Name field, type the new name.
4. Click apply changes.
