Expand a PolicyCenter Configuration

When you assign multiple PacketShapers to a PolicyCenter configuration, all of those units will have the same sharable attributes and settings. Any change to that configuration, whether from PolicyCenter or the browser interface of an individual unit, will be reflected by all units assigned to that configuration. But what if you want to change the configuration of just one of the units, while leaving the others the same as before? PolicyCenter allows you to quickly and easily create a child configurations under the unit's original configuration. The Expand operation automatically assigns the unit to the new child configuration—all you have to do is make the desired changes within the child configuration. The one unit will apply the changes from its new configuration, but other units assigned to the original configuration will not change.

If you would later like to apply the changes you made to the new child configuration back to to the other units, you can collapse the child configuration back onto its parent.

  1. Select the configurations tab in PolicyCenter.

  2. Click the name of the unit whose configuration you want to change. The unit options window opens.  show screen

  3. Click the radio button beside the Expand a New Child Configuration for this Unit option, the enter a name for the new child configuration in the Expand a New Child Configuration for this Unit field.

  4. Click apply changes.

  5. A pop-up window will ask you to confirm your selection. Click OK.
