Collapse a Child Configuration onto its Parent

When you have multiple units assigned to a single PolicyCenter configuration, you may want to test potential changes to that configuration on only a single unit. PolicyCenter allows you to expand a child configuration for a single unit, and make changes to that one unit only. If you would then like to apply that change to the other units, you can collapse the test configuration back onto its parent.

When you collapse a unit's assigned configuration, the collapse operation automatically publishes that child configuration to its parent, adding the changes you made to the child configuration back to the parent configuration. The collapse operation then reassigns the unit to the parent configuration and deletes the child configuration. This operation is only allowed when a single unit is assigned to the child configuration.

  1. Select the configurations tab in PolicyCenter.

  2. Click the name of the unit whose configuration you want to collapse. The unit options window opens.  show screen

  3. Click the radio button beside the Collapse this Unit's Configuration into its Parent option.

  4. Click apply changes.

  5. A pop-up window will ask you to confirm your selection. Click OK.
