Auto-Deployment SetupConfiguring Network Routers
Before you enable the auto-deployment server and start configuring units via
the PolicyCenter auto-deployment feature, the routers that will forward the
auto-deployment messages must be correctly configured. Verify the following
settings:
- Disable Proxy-ARP: An unconfigured PacketShaper may not be able
to auto-deploy its correct gateway IP address if the network routers have
Proxy-ARP enabled. Before you enable the auto-deployment server to send auto-deploy
messages to unconfigured units, you must disable Proxy-ARP on all routers
through which the auto-deploy messages will pass.
- Enable Network Broadcast Forwarding: If you do not specify a target
host IP address for an auto-deploy unit entry, the auto-deployment server
will send an auto-deploy message to the entire specified subnet. Routers running
Cisco IOS 12 or later do not forward these messages by default, so you must
enable network broadcast forwarding on routers in the subnet. If you cannot
enable broadcast forwarding on all routers between PolicyCenter and the unconfigured
unit (e.g., routers owned by your ISP), you must specify a target host IP
address for that unit entry.
