Manage the PolicyCenter Directory Server

The Directory Server software is installed with PolicyCenter. The Directory Server contains configuration data for Packeteer units subscribed to PolicyCenter.

Select one of the following for additional information on managing the PolicyCenter directory server.

• Backup and Restore the Directory Server Configuration  Sun One   iPlanet
  Backup and restore the entire directory server tree, including data for the server and all PolicyCenter configurations. A backup of the directory server must be created and restored on the same machine.
  
  
• Backup and Restore PolicyCenter Configurations  Sun One   iPlanet
  Create a backup of just the PolicyCenter configuration prior to changing server settings or reinstalling the Directory Server software. A backup of the PolicyCenter configuration can be restored into any server.
  
  
• Refresh the Directory Server Cache  Sun ONE and iPlanet 
  If a PolicyCenter configuration doesn't match a configuration read directly from a Packeteer unit, or if PolicyCenter doesn't respond properly, you may need to refresh the directory cache.
  
  
• Upgrade the Directory Server Software
  For important details on upgrading your directory server software to a more recent version, refer to the PolicyCenter Release Notes for that software release.
