Move a Class

When you want to reorganize the traffic tree, you can move a traffic class to a different parent traffic class or folder.

Note: If you are using the Easy Configure feature, you cannot move classes. If you want to move a class into a different Easy Configure category, use the top ten tab.

To perform this task from PolicyCenter, you must first select a group and/or unit configuration from the Group: and Unit: drop-down lists at the top of the page.

To move a class to a different subtree:

1. Click the manage tab.

2. In the left window pane, select the class you want to move.

3. In the right window pane, click class and select move from the drop-down list. The Move Traffic Class screen appears.  show screen

4. In the To new parent drop-down list, select the destination parent class.

5. Click move class to move the class under the designated new parent.

PacketWise verifies that the moved class is reachable before completing the move. For example, if you attempt to move a TCP-based class to an IPX parent, PacketWise notifies you that the move is not allowed.

When you move a class to a parent that has no children, a Default, match-all class is created automatically at the same time.

Moving a class moves its statistics along with it. If you are creating different policies and partitions for the moved class, you may want to clear the statistics since they may no longer be applicable.
