PolicyCenter Tasks

PolicyCenter is a software management system for managing up to 200 PacketShapers, PacketSeekers or AppVantage units. If these units are operating in shared mode, they can be configured together through PolicyCenter group configuration settings. When you make changes to a group configuration, all units in that group can automatically inherit the new values and update their configurations.

The tasks described in this section are specific to PolicyCenter, and cannot be performed from the user interface of an individual Packeteer unit. These tasks will enable you to install and configure PolicyCenter, add units to PolicyCenter, and manage multiple units with PolicyCenter group configuration settings.

Many other PacketWise tasks for Setup, Classification, Traffic Tree Management, Event Notification, Customer Portal Administration, Scheduling commands and Creating command files can be performed on both an individual unit configuration and a group configuration from the PolicyCenter Web interface. When the PolicyCenter icon shown to the left appears beside a task, it indicates that the described task can be performed both from the individual unit, and from PolicyCenter.
