Convert a Unit ConfigurationIf you want to retain the local configuration of an individual unit as it is added to PolicyCenter, add the unit to PolicyCenter with the Convert Configuration option. The local unit configuration will be preserved, and can be shared later with other PolicyCenter units or with a group. If you add a unit to PolicyCenter without this option, any existing local unit configuration is cleared, and the unit will take its entire configuration from its group.
The local configuration will be preserved on the unit, and will merge with that unit's group configuration. If the unit had a local password, that password is still valid. If the unit did not have a local password, use the PolicyCenter default group password (if it exists) or Superuser password to access the unit. Note: If you use a secure Web interface with a non-default HTTPS port setting (i.e. other than port 443) to carry out the convert operation, you may see "Page Not Found" error on the secure Web page immediately after you perform this operation. The secure port configuration will be converted with the unit configuration, but it may be a few seconds before you can refresh the secure browser page to reestablish communications to the unit. See also: Publish a Unit Configuration and Sharing Configurations between Packeteer Devices for more information on using the convert function to create a group configuration. |
