Subscribe to a Group

The subscribe function enables a unit to participate in a group's configuration updates. Once a unit has subscribed to a group, it receives updates whenever a new configuration is published to the group.

To subscribe a unit to a group:

1. Display the group configuration settings:

a. Click setup on the navigation bar.

b. From the Choose Setup Page list, select group configuration. The Group Configuration window appears.  show screen

2. In the Traffic Group field, enter the group name. Specify a name that is a valid subdirectory under the path shown for the FTP path. Configuration updates will be served from this directory.

3. Click subscribe.

Note: You can subscribe to one group for traffic configurations and another group for image configurations, or one group can serve both configuration types.

4. In the Image Group field, enter the group name and click subscribe.

PacketWise checks for the directory you specify and returns an error message if the directory does not exist. When you click the subscribe button, it toggles to unsubscribe.

After a unit has successfully subscribed to a group, you must synchronize it with the group's current configuration, if that configuration is different from the newly-subscribed unit's configuration.

To subscribe or unsubscribe from the command line, use the group subscribe and group unsubscribe commands, respectively.
