Define a Failover ConfigurationThe amount of bandwidth that the unit manages can change if a router fails over from a primary to a secondary link. PacketWise can be configured to detect this failover condition and enforce the new, lower link speed. A site router must be defined in the unit's basic configuration before defining a failover configuration. PacketWise polls the site router, using SNMP, every two seconds to determine the status of the links. If the site router uses another link as a backup for a primary link, PacketWise uses the failover settings to adjust its link speed during the primary link outage. Failover status is reported on the Info page. PacketWise will detect the end of an outage and revert to the original bandwidth allocation as soon as the router reports the primary link is up again.
Modifying Failover SettingsTo configure failover settings: 1. Click the setup tab. The basic settings are displayed on the Setup page. 2. Verify that the site router setting is set
to the router's IP address in the Basic Settings screen.
3. From the Choose Setup Page list, select
failover. The failover configuration settings appear on the Setup
page. 4. In the Failover Configuration window, define the router configuration and failover settings, as described in the following table.
5. Click apply changes to update the settings. See also: Set a Policy for Failover Mode
