Configure Compression

Packeteer’s Xpress feature works by creating compression tunnels between PacketShaper units. A tunnel is automatically set up when a compression-enabled PacketShaper detects another compression-enabled unit on the network. Packets are compressed and sent to the other PacketShaper Xpress unit using the IPComp protocol.

To configure compression, you need to:

1. Check your PacketShaper memory to make sure you have enough RAM to run compression.

2. Install the Xpress compression software key.

3. Turn on compression.

4. Optional: Limit the hosts and/or partners that can use the compression facility.
