Classify RTP TrafficInteractive Realtime Transport Protocol (RTP) traffic can be further classified by media type, encoding name, or clock rate. For example, you can differentiate between different audio and video streams. Or, you could set the encoding name to a value such as G729, PCMA, GSM, or JPEG so that you can manage streams differently based on how they are encoded.
To classify interactive RTP traffic: 1. Click the manage tab. 2. In the left window pane, select the class or folder that will be the parent of the class you are about to define. 3. Click class and select add. Warning: If the Easy Configure feature is enabled, the class must be placed as a child of one of the Easy Configure folders (that is, MissionCritical, Average, LowPriority, or Prohibited). PacketWise may not classify traffic properly for classes created outside of these folders. See Easy Configure Recommendations for more information. 4. In the Name field, type a descriptive name (up to 31 characters; hyphens, underscores, and periods are acceptable). 5. For the Service, select RTP-I. 6. Scroll down to the Criterion field, and
select Encoding Name, Media Type or Clock Rate from
the drop-down list.
7. If you selected Encoding Name for the criterion,
specify the encoding name in the empty text field. For a list of encoding
names, go to ietf.org
and look up RFC 1890. or If you selected Media Type, type a for
audio or v for video in the text field. If you selected Clock Rate, type 8000, 16000, 44100, or 90000. 8. Click add class. For more information about the other entries in the New Traffic Class window, see Matching Rules. Note: A matching rule can contain only one application-specific criterion. To combine multiple criteria, use two traffic classes, a parent and a child. |
